## Sustainability has been integral to Vera’s prosperity, and has been at its core since the idea of the hotel was first conceived.

Injecting the hotel experience with a commitment to eco-friendly practices is of paramount importance to David and Martin, who understand that true luxury must be founded upon environmental integrity.

We hold an unwavering belief that true luxury and environmental responsibility are not competing forces but inseparable ones. From the earliest stages of restoring our 19th-century heritage building, sustainability was a foundational design principle. Every decision, from the building envelope to the guest amenity on the bathroom shelf. We believe that caring for a heritage building is itself an act of sustainability: preserving what already exists, honouring the embedded carbon of 150-year-old craftsmanship, and proving that historic structures can perform to modern environmental standards without compromise. Our mantra, “Green is Our Gold,” reflects a deep conviction that the most memorable guest experiences are those delivered with the lightest possible footprint.

## Powered by the sun

This philosophy is embedded in our operations at every level. In August 2024, we installed 54 Jinko Tiger Neo solar panels on the property, now generating 60% of our energy needs and producing 24.18 MWh of clean energy in FY26 alone, reducing carbon emissions by 22 tonnes annually. Our building incorporates smart energy management, Casambi LED lighting throughout, motion-sensor controls, and high-efficiency HVAC with smart climate zoning, all carefully integrated within heritage constraints.

## Sustainable Tourism and Tourism Emissions Reduction Accreditation

Hotel Vera and Babae completed both Sustainable Tourism and Tourism Emissions Reduction Accreditation, and we participate in a carbon offset program with Fifteen Trees. But accreditation is not our endpoint; it is our baseline. We share our sustainability story openly with guests during property tours and across our digital platforms because we believe transparency inspires action, and that every guest who leaves Hotel Vera more conscious of sustainable travel is an outcome as valuable as any commercial metric.

We have eliminated single-use plastics entirely from guest rooms and food service, operate comprehensive waste separation targeting 80% landfill diversion, and use refillable dispensers for all guest amenities and cleaning products.

Simply add a note to your booking letting us know when you are expected.

## EV Charging Station

Vera offers guests the convenience of a dedicated Porsche EV charging station on-site, providing the reassurance that one’s adventurous escape will be seamless and joy-fueled.
